Due to COVID 19 there was no Memorial Day Honorarium in 2020
Petaluma’s citizens, old and young, gathered at Cypress Hills Memorial Park to honor America’s fallen on Memorial Day. The grounds were adorned with burial flags flying in the light breeze and lining the pathway to the ceremony.
VFW Post 1929 hosted the annual Memorial Day event with participation from the American Legion, Disabled Veterans of America, Military Women Across the Nation, Vietnam Veterans of America and other local veterans’ organizations. Mayor Teresa Bartlett and Supervisor David Rabbitt were also present and said a few words.
VFW Post 1929 Commander Glenn Ross was the Master of Ceremonies. The invocation was given by Matt Duffy and the benediction was given by Warren Ross. The Petaluma V.S.O. Rifle squad gave a rifle salute before Taps at the close of the ceremony.
Petaluma has a long tradition of respecting those who have served and who currently serve in our military. On Memorial Day 2019 we once again paid homage to those who have gone before us.
