On Sunday, August 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. there will be a Picnic at the Yountville Veterans Home, located at 260 California Drive, Yountville, Ca 94599. Both the State Commander and State Auxiliary President will be in attendance
and would like to see our District members there. Auxiliaries that are attending are asked to bring cookies for dessert. There is also a need for volunteers both to help serve food and clean up after the picnic. The hours that help is needed
will be from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the bulk of the need being between 11 and 2. If you would like to volunteer please email Julie Workman at JulieAlaine13@gmail.com with the number of members and times you are available. The attire
for the event will be casual.
Both Michael and Mary are eager to meet and greet with Comrades and Auxiliary members in a casual and informal environment. They consider this visit an opportunity to get to know our members and see what they do in their communities,
and how they support our Veterans and their families. They want to hear about all your efforts and achievements. So don’t be shy and come prepared to talk about the good work your members are doing!
We wanted to share a note from the State Commander, so that you have an idea of what to expect from his visit.
“I only have one expectation when it comes to the visit: We expect to have an informal “round table” with both comrades and auxiliary members to discuss ideas, needs, and concerns which will address my priorities listed below. This
should be considered informal and everybody should be made to feel that they can discuss openly any constructive topics that are relevant to addressing areas of opportunity with the comrades AND auxiliary – but if you have an issue, I expect
you to propose possible solutions. Please ensure however, that you run your ideas through the District first.
1. Seeing how you are implementing my motto of “Mentor, Communicate, and Serve.”
2. Show me how you are working to improve membership, focusing on family, and what events you have planned to implement this.
3. Show me any programs the district/posts are doing to help fellow veterans.
4. Show me what you are doing to be active in your community.
5. Visiting posts within the district to meet and socialize with fellow members and auxiliary.
6. Show me what you are doing to “toot your own horn.” Getting the word out about your post accomplishments is a key focus item of National Commander in Chief “Doc” Schmitz.”
- Michael Kuznik
If you should have any questions about the information above, please feel free to contact either myself or Julie Workman.
We are looking forward to an informative and fun visit, and hope you can join us. There will be plenty of food, conversation and opportunity to share the accomplishments, and future opportunities in service, from your Posts and Auxiliaries.
We appreciate your commitment to our great organization and want you to have a chance to shine. So come out and talk about the good work being done in District 16 and take advantage of this opportunity to get to know your Department leaders
for the 2019-2020 year. We hope to see you there!
District 16 Commander
District 16 Aux President
